In the morning we will go through seed cleaning and preparatory techniques, including advice about seed collecting, seed viability, storage, sowing techniques and what to do to look after the trays and plugs over the following year. After lunch we will spend a few hours sowing the seeds that we have collected on our various seed collecting days. We will provide trays, compost and grit, paid for by Natural England’s Innovation Fund.

Please note that it has already been agreed where the majority of the seed trays are going to. However, if you have been busy seed collecting, please do bring your own seeds along on the day to sow into trays as well. If you are one of the smallholders who are looking after the trays but can’t come along on the day, we will arrange a way of getting the trays to you. And we are still on the lookout for helpers over the winter months to look after the plug plants.

Tea, coffee and cake/biscuits will be provided. Please email in advance if you will be attending so they know numbers for catering purposes.
