A day spent looking at key wildflowers and bumblebees found on farms within the North Pennines

09:30 – 10.00. Arrival and tea and biscuits

10.00 – 12.30. Identification of common wildflowers found in upland hay meadows by Ruth Starr-Keddle. We will spend an hour looking at key features of the flowering parts of plants, followed by a walk around the farm looking at the meadows.

12.30 – 13.00. Lunch provided.

13.30 – 16.00. Identification of bumblebees found in meadows and gardens by Mandy Oliver. We will spend an hour looking at the main ways you can tell bumblebees apart, followed by a walk around the farm looking at the meadows and gardens and seeing which bumblebees we can find.
