Details of the Nectarworks open meeting on Wed 2 April have been added to the event calendar and they are suggesting that anyone who is interested should book their places in advance .

You can download the agenda for this event from the AONB website (using this link) and the following is some further background about this event:

The AONB Partnership launched the Nectarworks project in the summer of 2013. Our aim is to enthuse, educate and enable communities to take action for bumblebees and other pollinators by restoring and increasing flower-rich habitats across the AONB.

Wildflowers and bumblebees are of immense importance to us all as they are intimately bound to the production of our own food. Through Nectarworks we are focusing on places that are rich in wild flowers within the farmed environment and are working with local people to create new school and community nectar gardens.

At this morning event you will hear more about the project, how it has built on our successful Hay Time project and how you can get involved. You will also be entertained by a performance from local primary school children and offered coffee & cake.

Full event details are on the North Pennines Smallholders calendar
